Honestly, I really don't have the time or energy to go find the DL memo about NW purchase of Midwest, but it said that without the scope relaxation, they would have to divest the NW shares. At the time of NW's purchase, DL management was upset because if Airtran had purchased Midwest, it would have drained their cash and made them vunerable in ATL so DL could exploit the weakness. There was no NW/Delta purchase of Midwest, no matter how revisionist you want to be. It was NW and TPG alone. We really didn't want you, we just got stuck with you through the merger. So tell me, how do you think it would have played out for you if Airtran had bought Midwest?
