Thanks for the explanation. I always use "Gus wears a hat.", as in Glide Slope wears a HAT. A 3 degree glide slope equals 300/mile, 4 degree equals 400 and so forth. The USAF taught me to apply it from the end of the runway not the MAP though.
Are you talking about vertical rate for a given glide path, or calculating a visual decent point (for when it's not published)? I think this thread is asking about techniques to determine a VDP
