The amount of On-Demand charter companies out there is very small right now. Many have folded, some are laying low and others are barely surviving on the money their 121 side makes (Kalitta, Ameristar). My understanding is Ameristar is down to 2 mechanics and few pilots (including management).
135 On-Demand will never get back to what it once was in the 90's.
Personally I am glad this happened, there where many bad 135 companies out there that needed to be weeded out. The grass is starting to look like grass again. But as always when things are starting to get too much again, the weeds will come back and pollute the grass. Hopefully this time weed control (FAA) will handle this in a better way
