At one place I worked, the owner had his STUDENT pilot certificate revoked when he crashed while carrying passengers, for hire, at night, in an aircraft that he was not checked out in. You can imagine what the attitude toward regulatory compliance at that place was. The Feds finally shut them down, about six months after I quit.
