There is PLENTY of hypocrisy to go around in this thread, specifically those calling for Republic to give away the seats on these airplanes to MEH pilots when not a *single* regional airline has done in the past out of the kindness of their hearts when they've grown and "taken" flying away from a shrinking mainline partner.
Only now that we hit the magical 100 seat mark does everybody seem to be up in arms about it...and you, among others, start calling for Republic pilots to surrender their seniority on these airplanes.

Actually, I've been up at arms since regionals started replacing mainline jobs. I wanted anything that didn't have props flown by mainline pilots.
To put it in simple terms, I'm opposed to the entire idea of subcontracting. Another thing is... I've flown for both: an airline that owned its own code and wasn't a subcontractor; and a subcontractor - a commuter. Call me biased, but I am sort of partial to the higher paid people.
Let me put this in your context:
You started flying for your boss in a Citation Ultra. He traded it for a CJ2+ and that's what you're flying now - and you got a little raise. Now, your boss decides he'll start using contract pilots on some trips instead of you and he'll dock you pay for flights/days he used contract pilots. Adding insult to injury, these contract pilots make 50% less than you do. So now, your boss decides to trade in the CJ2+ and get a Sovereign. He'll use those contract pilots to cover the trips and this leaves you high and dry. Now... you're ticked off at the whole situation, but now those contract pilots start telling you how wrong it is what's happening to you, how it sucks that you're in this position, and how there's nothing they can do to help it.
I tend to disagree. There's plenty they can do... but they choose to extend fake sympathies to you instead of actually doing something about it. Is this not hypocrisy?
