Yes, times have changed, but people frequently make the mistake of thinking that they won't change again. A Regional or LCC may be a good spot for the time being, but the legacies will hire and upgrade before long, since the "age 65" rule only
delayed retirements. Many of the "bright and new" carriers will someday be neither, if they are still in business at all. You have seen this cycle firsthand, and will see it again. For confirmation, watch as the young pilots "vote with their feet".
