My private conspiracy theory has always been that these are destined for Air Wisconsin to be operated as United Express. AWAC has scope relief in the United contract for up to 18 airframes with a MGTOW of 100,000 lbs. I think.
I don't know the details. This is an old agreement, but is still valid according to several AWAC managers.
In the old days it would have been great. But with United parking airplanes and with United pilots out on furlough I don't want to see mainline replacement airplanes (which the CRJ-1000 clearly is) be put into service there. Or anywhere else as replacement airplanes.
