Hiring has slowed down, but it is still going on. Having someone bring your stuff in seems to be the key.

They seem to be flexible on the mins depending on a number of factors like experience, recommendations, interview, etc. The pool of guys with 5000 hours at major airlines interviewing for jobs are so-called 'regionals' seems to have dropped off. Many new-hires I talk to were instructing in Cessna 172s a year ago.
