Park Plaza is a great spot. Took the wife to BOS for a weekend a while back and stayed there. You can open your window and spit on Boston Common, so the location is fantastic, and the hotel has that "grand old hotel" look and feel (and a passable Irish pub right around the corner...)
The Park Plaza is our long layover hotel and it's great. Mcormick & Schmicks is connected to the hotel and has some excellent late night happy hour munchie things. Across the street is the original Legal Seafoods with some great grub as well. You can walk to most of Boston's great historical sites. If you're DAL it often depends upon where you are based and what you fly. We had some nice layovers from LAX for awhile, but those are gone. The ATL and CVG guys snagged them.
