i have tried both the yoke and the joystick and personally prefer a good joystick because you really do get a nice 3D feel for it. Plus it doesn't take a lot of room and is less messy. It is strictly a matter of preference, and if you are going to invest some money, I would highly recommend you try them both. As for the rudder pedals, nah, I didn't care much for them either. A good joystick should do the trick IMHO.
