Well my company says is not duty. We are a cargo feeder with scheduled departures but using non schedule regs... But if this a gray area answer to these scenarios:
1) When do i stop drinking Beer? 8 hours before call in or showtime?...
2) If i am required by the company to wake up at 5:00 am to call to say that i will be there at 7:00 isn't that disturbing my rest...
The Fars only explain the max 8 hours of flying and the 10 hours of rest in 24 being reduced to 8 (thats where i say that 16 hours of duty can be applied). But nothing on call in as part of a duty?????
And yes i am REQUIRED to call them.
