Also, I saw first hand how clueless your mgt team is. I am not bashing UAL as I fly them exclusively. On the flight last night from YYC to DEN there was what I took to be an IT mgr of some sort on the flight. I overheard him talking to some FA's that were deadheading. Anyway he was speaking about how excited they were about the program they have with FedEX shipping the passengers bags. Are they really that clueless?
Let's see I purchase a seat and that seat allows me to take my bags with me. Ok, if I do not have Premier or higher status I need to pay 15 buck per bag. Sign of the times i guess so I will suck it up. If I do it that way my bags travel with me and I have them at my destination. So now I am out an extra 30-60 buck for a round trip.
My other option is shipping my bags with FedEx under UAL's program. Why on Earth would I ever consider that option? I need to have my bags ready earlier, not really an option for the business traveler. I need to schedule or drop off with FedEx. I do not get my baggage until the next day. It adds more stess to travel because I now have to worry about one more thing. All that and I get to pay more than just sucking up the bag fees. Ya, that'll work.
A message to UAL's mgmt team; put your limited mental bandwith into something that actually moves your airline forward. I, as a customer who spent over $50,000 flying United in the last 12 month's, could care less about useless programs like Door-to-Door Bagage.
So really, what is up with that 747 at DEN?
Well I've use FedEx to do this with ski stuff and it works great. Some of my buds that travel to big shows are doing same with reg bags and stuff they used to check... I'm not a fan of UAL management but thinking outside of the box is good. Oh and usually the bags are there when i get to the hotel..
