Well, when you state your situation and question in the frame that you are obviously new at this, expect your answer to sound like it should end with, "son". Obviously I wasn't too far off base if you also decided it wasn't a good idea to fly with a student while you were out of currency.
Yeah, but why would one automatically assume that just because someone asks whether something is legal that, if the answer is yes, they are just going to go out and do it regardless or safety or other issues?
I didn't get anything more from the question than that "is it allowed" was one piece of data, not the the whole decision-making process. "No" means it's out of the question; "yes" means a need to consider other things.
