You were commissioned a Navy Officer first. Taxpayers expect more than simply a weapon operator. Taxpayers not ripped off unless you failed to deliver as an officer. When I was an 0-2 Div O in my fleet sqdrn learned enormous skills from the senior enlisted. Was glad to make the sailors I was responsible for have a better deal. Got some to college, got some promoted faster, got some commissioned. All about mentoring and giving back. You know, leadership, doing the job the taxpayers expect. Didn't worry about my career, but the same sailors made it good. Met the dirtballs too, but you know what they said "When is his COC/PCS?". Had no effect on my opinion that most of the leadership were competent. Won't denigrate the entire military because morons can prosper as well. Continue to have my frustrations with the Navy, that's life, but man, your bitterness isn't the half of it.
