I'm actually curious as well. Is flowback MANDATORY, or optional? I.E., would furloughees be given the option of either taking a furlough or accepting a flowback position, and in either case be able to keep their Delta recall rights?
It's simple arithmetic: for many of us, a FO slot at Compass, particularly with a commute, would be more expensive than an actual furlough (where other local, non-aviation jobs could be pursued). I'm sure it's a fine job and a fine airplane, but getting 20-30k a year while commuting to a crash pad simply wouldn't make any financial sense for many.
