A Little perspective here, 5 years ago, R-24s were getting called out for MEM STHOTL from R-24 (I may have been one of them) and we were not permitted to stay at home. IMHO, if you get a STHOTL in MEM, enjoy it. Do the movie star thing and have the family stay with you. I think we should enjoy the benefits the CBA affords us...

But how do they prohibit you from driving to the AOC in your personal vehicle? How would they know? Why would they care?
I don't think they provide transportation from your home or the AOC to the Doubletree or back to the doubletree to get your car if launched off hotel standby. The GT restriction was the scheduler winging it. They love to say no and you gave them another opportunity.
