Painful because alpa at the regional level sucks, period. I don't think they would do anything for SKW, except maybe create an antagonistic relationship with the company. As far as taking care of our pilot group goes, I would vastly prefer an independent union...seems to work for AA, SWA, etc.

I also think that ALPA has turned the corner on the regional industry and its pilots. They have made great strides lately, not to take away anything from all their safety advocacy that has helped all pilots.
ALPA does not decide what kind of relationship your pilots have with management. Your MEC decides on that in their actions and communications. And your MEC is democraticly elected or recalled by the line pilots. This whole issue with management relations is a big misconception that ALPA has. ALPA only provides the toolbox and your MEC decides how to use it.
But let me ask you this, what has SWAPA, APA, FPA, IPA, USAPA, IBT, or even SAPA done for the regional pilots that ALPA hasn't?
