UPS is supposed to get the 380 (I'll believe it when I see it!) and the 747-400. The 800 has never been mentioned (as of yet). When you compare the number of nb pilots to superwidebody pilots at federal (which won't be online for few years now), I think ups has the better pay scale setup. Add in the fact that if you get 757s, it will be considered nb for pay purposes as well.
As far as trip rig goes, most of the ups trips, domestic and international are paid on the rig. The exceptions are the cat and dog lines and turns (which are 6hrs). I think the reason is how federal pilots are not paid during the sort, at least that is what I've been told. Can you confirm this?
I've got a bud who works on your bus schedules. He says our scheduling is not as good as federal's, but it improved a lot this time around. His major gripe on the ta is the signing bonus differential between fedex and ups. But like all negotiations, you have to give up something to get something. I'm not sure where the tradeoffs were at ups.
I think your ta will pass by at least 80-20. I haven't heard too many discouraging words or show stoppers. Yours is shorter deal, so you guys can lay the groundwork for the next round.

PS btw, your motors are upside down...lol
Pilot,
Most of our hub turn lines are not paid rig. They are paid MDPD(Minimum Pay Per Duty Period). For the hub turn MPDP, that is 3 hrs of pay out of the hub and 3 hours of pay into the hub for a 6 hour pay day. Some of those trips are 22 TAFB (with layover) and some (out and backs which also pay 6 hours) are only 6 hours TAFB. So, to answer your question, most of the time we are not getting paid for the hub turn as we have already earned 6CH for the day.
As far as pay set up, we'll work on that next time around. I do think that a single pay rate for all A/C drags down the top rate more than bringing up the bottom rate. Of course I'm partial to the top end rate..
There's only one normal way to attach a motor to a wing and that is to hang it on there. Don't kow about that design guy that decided to set a motor on top of the wing. Funniest dam thing I've ever seen!
