N call in honest is a great deal. Need 2 flights that both get you to base BEFORE report time. First flight can be offline, 2nd must be NWA. If you do not get on the 1st flight(company verifies this) then you are positive spaced on the 2nd(NWA) flight. If you do not make it(i.e. mx, wx) by report time on positive spaced flight then there are no issues(except for not getting paid

Problem with SDAL commuters is(I think ACL pointed out), they are more concentrated than NDAL commuters. For example, DFW could have a lot of positive spaced commuters on flights to ATL.
