Would your opinion of UPS be different if the IPA didn't have a disability plan?
That's a good question and I thought about it and the answer is no. The IPA disability plan is the IPA not UPS so UPS remains the same regardless. We wouldn't have jack without a union and that is the case for many many employers not just UPS. I'm not looking for a "great place to work". To me that's a bonus. I'm looking for a solid employer that I hope to stay at until retirement. Go to work and fly when I have to, hopefully have some fun on my trips and fly with some nice people, get a paycheck, hopefully keep our good benefits and go home to the truly important people in my life. That is my expectation of a good job. I'm not looking for pats on the back and lollipops every 2 seconds. I've worked at 2 other airlines before here and this place, by far, beats the other two.
This furlough threat sucked but I just look at it as business....not personal. Honestly I was more dissappointed in the 1000 that didn't contribute than I was mad at the company.
