UPSMISTAKE,
I hear what you say about family time, but you rolled the dice and it feels like you lost. You didn't.
You picked UPS over SWA because of the long-term pay scale, international experience and heavy equipment.
Now you're complaining about a lot of things coming your way (some of them legit, some not) but you gotta remember that UPS' predicaments are not even close to be as bad as other carriers.
You and me can change jobs if you want. I'm Challenger captain in the northwest. I get my Hawaii and Europe fix once a month or so. Plenty of family time, underpaid by roughly 20K, on-call 24/7, medical insurance is a joke, no 401K.
I forgot to tell you, I'll be unemployed by the end of the month, due to the lack of charters and aircraft owner bankruptcy.
Plenty of family time in the near future.
Look, we all make decisions at a certain time based on what's best for our families and our wallets. No one can look into the future (as far as I'm aware).
I would love to be a brownie, believe me I've tried for a long time.
You know that UPS will bounce out of this mess sooner than any other carrier.
Suck it up and put your energy on what your next move is going to be and don't waste your time thinking what you could/should have done.
Good luck,
Y.
