BTW when I left mesa, the bottom of the captain list was moving 4-5 numbers per month...after you account for retirements, medical problems, and career changers, that leaves 1-2 getting hired at a major. The number at SKW is 15-20 / month. Somebody out there doesn't like mesa captains...and even if you're the greatest guy on earth, if all the captains are stuck in front of you, how are you going to get your PIC?
You are right and there are a lot of guys here at FedEx that worked for Mesa/Air Midwest so the chances of you having a friend here are better than the other guys. I just looked at the UPS new hire class and there were no Skywest guys there...none at FedEx in the last 4 months of new hire classes. So the 15-20 a month going to a major??? Where are they going SWA? (after buying a 737 type, is that pay for training?) Alaska...(more of a big regional)? Yea...right. Any other majors getting all of the "other" guys?

Don't get your feathers ruffled...my point is that if you want to get out of the regionals and on to a major airline...why bash Mesa/Air Midwest? Because you are not there? If there are very, very few Skywest guys at FedEx then chances are they are going to hire very few in the future. You need PIC time to get on at any major and you can upgrade at Mesa your first year. The sooner you do that the sooner you are at a major...if that is what your goal is.

So before anyone discourages another pilot trying to get on at a Mesa...why?

PS...Rick, you weren’t that FO that was filming his landing in the RJ going into Dulles were you???
