For COPA you'd need to be a Panamanian or have a whole lota hours on the NG with a TRI on your licence. I flew in Panama for Aeroperlas for a while, but only because I was a training captain and they didn't have a Panamanian who was qualified. . . nice place though.

With that kind of time I'd be looking at Maun in Botswana or Papau New Guinee. Both places hire people with about 300 TT for various Cessnas. You'll move up pretty quick if your a decent guy and a decent driver.

Getting a type rating and going to Asia is a bit of a no go at the moment as there are ample candidates out there with A320 and NG time; the two types where that sort of thing works.

The other thing is to go to China and be a CAAC instructor for an ab intio program. Depending on where the base is it can be a very nice lifestyle. I'm based out of Shanghai on a commuting contract and really enjoy China. There is not a lot of action at the moment, unless you have good time on type (nobody worth working for is hiring with a bare type rating at the moment), but I see thing's happening there pretty quickly when everything picks up. We are already a fair bit busier than we were three months ago. I would make sure that the flight school you worked for, if you went that way, was willing to let you go to an airline when the opportunity arose as they are very sticky on moving between operations.

Of course this is just my take, so do some more checking and looking around. Very good advice on this site if you do the time searching.
