I'm not saying we are understaffed. I'm saying as long as contingency and marketing shuffle airframes around on a monthly basis, the bodies will always be in the wrong seats. Therefore we need excess manning and JAs to operate the system.
Just think about how overstaffed we would be if Alanta had stayed out of the determination of which airplanes where purchased. We would have a 747-400, 767/757 fleet instead of a 757/767, MD-11, 747-400, A300-600 and just parked the DC-8 and 747 classic. We would have had very few career training events and just two qualifications. Staffing would be greatly reduced.
