Anyway, I can't even imagine what a PhD in aviation would entail. A bachelor's in aviation (or "aeronautical science," as they call it with a straight face) is enough of a travesty. It's basically a collection of disparate fields at the introductory level, with nothing approaching the depth or rigor of a real degree. I know there are plenty of useless degrees, but this one costs more than most, and this is an aviation forum.
On another note, if this happens I'd be curious to see how ERAU's engineering program rank will fare in US News if they suddenly have to go up against the likes of MIT and CalTech...
