It's a fine idea and the more experience the better, but I don't think there will be enough pilots for airlines to hire. I've read where some say the regional industry might have to shrink because of this. That sounds well and good, but the vast majority of these airlines are publicly owned and they are not going to shun extra revenue. If the demand is there, they're going to add the supply. From a business perspective, it would be stupid for them to remain artificially small. The airline industry is a business, albeit a poorly run business.
