On CNBC today, there was some positive commentary about the airlines. Load factors, especially for United, were surpringly better than expected. At one point, its stock price was up 16%. The commentators were quick to point out that reductions in aircraft flown played a role in the numbers for all carriers, but the numbers match well with the recent spate of earnings news offered by airlines. With few exceptions, airlines posted very nice second quarter results.

I guess CNBC and some of its commentators haven't been reading this site or they would know it's the end of days for US airlines! Just kidding, but after the last year, a little manufactured good news still is nice.
