While I hate to see anyone lose their job, I'll argue that many (most) of those affected have their job because of the sheer number of jobs transferred from mainline to the contractors. Let's get them more jobs here instead. Overall the company would be much better off if all DL flying was done by DL employees. Costs are not the only factor involved. If I'm a SkyWest employee do I really care about DL passengers? Do I even know sometimes if I'm flying DL or United pax? Unfortunately cost is usually the only thing management sees.
