We have a 99% strike vote, industry leading performance, and we just keep on giving I guess.
there are some good people on the MEC, there are some that are there for themselves. The remaining few are only there because no one ran against them.
On the retro pay, if it goes down the W2 route, make sure your MEC opens up their W2's. Especially if the W2 are for more than a couple of years. I know many will be surprised how well some of those guys lived, and how well they will reap a W2 based retro check. Not everything is based on parity, despite what the CBA stands for, there will always be the haves and the have not's. A few of them have broken $120K+ and they don't fly more than 500 hours a year (you do the math)
Once a TA is signed, the LOA's go away, so the LOA is telling you what language is in the TA. It is a benefit now to see the new language in action before agreeing to it. Just realize if the TA is voted down, the LOA stands until the MEC withdraws it, that is where you may need to recall the MEC.
One fundamental factor that many are forgetting, the MEC (all elected reps) work for the pilot group. They answer TO the pilot, they take direction, not give it. A few have forgotten who elected them and why they are there, you may need to remind them.
I'd hate to say this, but you can't trust anyone, there are too many agenda's, some hidden, some subtle. That includes ALPA and the company, make the right decision based on the individuals needs, not for someone's agenda.
