Heyas,

As always, this thread gets resurrected by some pretty good points. I would add:

The nonsense about there being "no 100 seat replacement" is just that...nonsense. If the worlds largest airline put out a request for 100 100 seat aircraft that could:

1) Actually take 100 people.
2) Actually take some belly freight
3) Actually do 1 and 2 when an alternate is needed

You'd have the airplane builders all over themseves serving something up.

Instead, I think what has occured is a sort of "marketing paralysis". Managements don't WANT to commit to a new aircraft, because they want to wait it out a bit to see if we, or another group, folds on the 76 seat issue. As someone mentioned, airline management is pretty chummy with each other, and you don't want to show up at the next Airline CEO Ego Strokefest having ordered a bunch of 100 seaters for the mainline, when your buddy just rolled his pilot group for unlimited 76 seaters,

Overall, this is hurting not just the pilots, but the industry as a whole. They need to **** or get off the pot.

OTOH, some decisions MAY be forced on management. It would probably only take one more Buffalo, or a couple more Rochesters to drive Congress into banning codesharing outright. Then the game is over.
