Flight attendant leaves do not involve for the most part training issues. Pilots leaves involve huge training issues hence the need for longer leave periods. You could get around this by allowing the company to target the leaves to specific pilots in specific category and seat positions at their discretion. That however would have many other pilots screaming that it is unfair. Again trying in any way shape or form to compare flight attendants to pilots is pointless. A flight attendant can be removed from any portion of the seniority list on a leave. That does not apply to pilots since we are trained seat and category specific and overages may or may not exist in all seats and categories.
