John,
How about a little situational awareness?
Delta
is trying to cancel some DCI contracts and the litigation in other contracts can't be a good thing for the other ACMI vendor. You say Mesa's a "dead man" and I'll add that SkyWest suing Delta over compensation for ASA's IROPS can't be doing much to promote love and harmony with St. George Utah.
Unfortunately negligence is not "criminal" since most managers don't intend to be stupid. It is just a tough business and when you need $425,000,000 in a bad way and someone else has $425,000,000 in cash sometimes you make dumb deals with non union alter ego management teams who generously give to Republican campaigns.
Dare I point out that the music is stopping in some parts of our industry and not all pilots have seats to sit in. This has already happened at your airline where pilots have been furloughed. This in spite of your MEC's assurances that scope had been obtained which would prevent outsourcing your flying to SkyWest.
I had hoped SkyWest would join ALPA and you guys would seek unity. SkyWest might have become ALPA if your own MEC had taken up scope which gave them an incentive to seek unity with ASA. As is, they get an objective benefit by not being in ALPA.
Again, I believe you should be on the phone to your own reps instead of stirring up the Delta line guys who visit this forum to get the "latest and greatest" on Delta. We're only wasting your time.
For example, what if Delta needs another "loan" and decides to obtain that liquidity from a Compass, Mesaba, or Comair, sale? Certainly the buyer would want guarantees of stable flying and growth. That growth would likely come at your expense. So where are your real threats? I know it is easier to tell Delta pilots what you think they should support, but really, our internal fight about "unity" is not a threat to you.
Let us get back to whether 777-300's makes more sense than 747-400's and how the new hotel in Sacramento blows.
