When RAH became the replacement company for all but 9 of Midwest's 717's they were hired to replace existing planes and crews... They weren't being hired to bring in more feed, or to expand the route structure, they were brought in as a direct replacement. How you can not understand that is beyond comprehension...
The fact that many months later RAH bought midwest is not relevant to RAH's actions up until that point. Midwest furloughed pilots and contracted with a replacement company, as assuredly as if they had hired individual replacement workers directly.
Im going to waste time to actually respond to this. RAH was not a replacement company. It was a bandaide used by a company scheduled to lose all its airplanes. The initial agreement had midwest crews taking over RAH airplanes in the end. Republic had 17 planes sitting around burning a hole in the company pocket. Midwest gave Bedford an opportunity to put those back into service and generate some revenue.
At the time, midwest was in no position to buy new planes. The only fix they could come up with was the agreement with RAH. We all know how that turned out and its unfortunate. However, none of these events make 1 pilot on the RAH list a scab, period, end of story.
Instead of crying over history that cannot be changed or altered, maybe this effort should be put into building a stronger pilot group at the new RAH. Securing a better contract and making the best of the situation. Or we can sit around and sling mud at each other as nothing gets accomplished.
