Took me until March '09 (was a Nov '08 furlough) to convince myself to go back to flight instructing. Now, I just feel lucky to have a flying job period. I've put out more resumes than I can count...airlines, corporate, charter, retail, front desk at a gym, throwing bags, FBOs....and no bites except a 3rd shift security job early on in the search that I turned down (20/20 hindsight, I probably should have taken it). It just amazes me how oblivious the working public is to the hardships of finding a good job right now....both pilots and non-aviation people. I'm barely paying the bills on the CFI gig, but I'm lucky to have all instrument students at the moment & at least I'm staying current...hopefully that'll help some day.
