When my MEC studied PBS after management began pushing it, it discovered that it saved the company money due to a 15% increase in efficiency. This means 85% of the pilots on PBS could do the work of the present 100%. Savings was about 15 million dollars per year. It meant less reserves would be needed since there'd be less conflicts. More pilots could hold hard schedules instead of reserve. The down side was 15% less upgrades and transitions.

Any deal for PBS would have to include a no furlough clause for the 15%, vacation days, increase in pay due to the reduction in OT flying and increase in FO pay because of the 15% increase in upgrade time.

PBS, if done correctly, can be a blessing. Done incorrectly, it would truly suck for most pilots.
