Captain:"I think he would like you to say:"ATC clears Airline 123, to the xyz airport via....holding for release".
F/O:"He knows what i mean". swears about the controller.
Then i said:"When you call up FSS, they aren't ATC. They are just a middle man, and they are listening to 100 freqs. So you need to tell them your call sign followed by what freq you are transmitting and recieving on.", Then when they get back to you, you can tell them you are on the gound in xyz airport and looking for your cleanance to xyz airport."
F/O:"The guy was being a ____".

Seriously? At least he appears to generally know what FSS does.. were you guys able to get off the ground or did you have to take over radios? Maybe he hadn't done uncontrolled in a long time, which airport was it?
