I would agree it is safer but the level of safety has little to do with deregulation, as I see it. More to do with advancing technology, better training, better equipment. Remember too.. safety is not created by policy as much as it is an on-going process by the PEOPLE doing the work. And if the PEOPLE are under duress, the product is under duress.
One can argue the environment has become more confrontational and that contracts have been drastically changed, if not gutted. Longer work days, more work days and more pressures are there.
