If you step back for a moment and think logically about it, nobody bases their ticket purchase based on a terminal or facilities. If they do, they don't EVER think about the cost of said ticket anyway. I'm not defending the situation at JFK at all.. believe me since I am based there, but it really isn't a basis for buying tickets. And.. all things being equal, I'd rather have a bunch of new metal rather than a new terminal.
tsquare....I agree with everything you said and you are most definitely correct. What we have to think about though is how many of those passengers are going to be return customers after having to deal with the mess at both LGA and JFK? More JFK than LGA. I mean, JFK is a mess...from the hardstand (I think that's what its called) to the busing of people to terminal 4 for DTW, LAX, and AMS flights....absolute mess! I cant put it any other way. I was on the bus the other day to catch a DTW flight and could not believe the conditions and how unhappy the people in the ridiculously overcrowded bus were...one of them even asked me "why is Delta doing this?" I was in unifrom, and couldnt give them an answer.
Again, bottom line is what you said, people dont buy there tickets based on facilities, but my worry is that after people get a taste of our terminal, compared to say American's or JetBlue's, there is no question where people would rather be.
