I believe in commuting karma, as stated above. But you'd be surprised how dog eat dog some guys can be about the JS. It was worse (way worse) before the majors got rid of their archaic "only as many JS'er as JS's installed" crap.
I don't know/understand the culture of the JS and what seems to be the myriad of rules/etiquette associated with jumpseating; but after being on this forum for a short period of time I came to realize that it wasn't a simple process. I mean I learned that arilines had jumpseat committees and that you should file grievances for example. As much as the industry seems to rely on jumpseating, deadheading, non-reving, etc....I'm surprised how many are willing to play games with the process. I'm sure it is quite the education when entering the profession. Best of luck to all of you who have to endure. Commuting in general seems to be one of the most treasured (getting to live anywhere you want for a variety of reasons) benefits and at the same time THE most mentioned evil in the airline industry. Quite the dichotomy!
