FAPA was 'not too smart'. You had a gift and gave it up.

I betting that FAPA recognized that since WN would discuss no integration except a staple, most if not all of them would be on the street shortly after the acquisition. That $3000 number probably would have changed or been eliminated if some form of blended integration scheme had been offered. It was a negotiation, after all.
If WN had no intention of furloughing some of the F9 pilots, then this $3000 shouldn't have mattered. (I understand that there are at least 56 current Frontier furloughees, but I'm not sure if this agreement would have included them.)
How loud would the junior F9 FOs be screaming now if their MEC had "negotiated" their quick exit to the street. Being on the WN seniority list, but furloughed, may be a comfort to some pilots. It was probably unacceptable to a lot of others.

But that's just my guess. Its hard to criticize the actions of the F9 pilot group without having all of the facts.
