Yeah, I was really annoyed by the MD-11 Comm Update saying we need to do more 2 engine taxis. Sounds like someone isn't flying MD-10's on domestic runs or they would realize we are almost always too heavy for that on the outbound. And who wants to have the f/o's head down starting an engine on a moving airplane when not on US soil? (or anywhere else for that matter...) He says 8% two engine taxi out is not in the ballpark. Hard to get that third engine started in time in MEM when we takeoff from 18L, too. Just to prove we do try, we give them 30% two engine taxi when headed for the barn.
Most guys I fly with do it when they can. And that might mean 8% taxi out....
