When you rack the slide to load a round, are you pulling back and releasing, or pulling back and guiding the slide forward? A common mistake is called "riding the slide". That would be guiding the slide forward. Many people do it to "preserve" the life of the gun. The correct method is to pull it back, and let it go. You're not hurting the gun because every time you shoot it, the slide is slamming back to its aft limit, then going forward with the help of the spring. You shouldn't really have any jamming problems with a nice clean new gun.
Yeah, I'm familiar with what you speak of here. I was not intentionally riding the slide if it was happening at all. I might have just unintentionally done it slightly a couple of times. Everything was fine after I caught myself.
