You'll have to explain further how not working and not getting paid rationalizes squat. I'm sure you'll come up with some totally baseless stuff to prove your agenda. Knock yerself out....

"If it works for you, great."

Yeah, it worked for me. It was great. I took the summer off and didn't get paid for it. Any YAhoo's who are going to come on here and tell me that was bad thing to do, or that it's a bad idea going forward, is gonna have me knocking at their door per post.

I'll do it again next summer at the first chance to sign up. I see the MOU as a concession from UPS which allows some freedoms other airlines have with respect to scheduling flexibility. Some of us appreciate the ability to take the time off without pay that other airlines have. If you are going to argue that's a bad thing for the IPA, then you'll have one senior ONT Capt looking to counter the BS.

For the life of me, I can't see the downside of extra time off without pay.
de727ups,
<g>, Have to disagree with your assessment. You were paid 12 hours per pay period TO NOT WORK ( for you, at least $2834) or $100/day to spend time any way you choose. As a CPT, You were paid a minimum via vacation and sick bank (collectible in cash the following year). Oh, and don't worry about the $1600+ COBRA payment, IPA negotiated that UPS will provide medical coverage at regular line pilot contractual rates. IMO, $2800+ medical to NOT WORK is something I hope we can place in a future contract <g>.
