Nighthawk/757upspilot,
I posted on this when it came out when the question of hours came up. The confusion came about when originally announced that one could contribute 10 hours sick. Actually, the agreement was any amount. Also, some of the amendments were signed at a later date. Just filling in the confusion points. In any case, the info given out was any number of hours. Apparently not consistent because some seemed to hear it and folks did contribute only one hour, and others heard ten and never revisited the issue.
The volume od info was coming out at a high rate daily and it was difficult to stay current on the latest.
SECOND AMENDMENT TO THE VOLUNTARY JOB PROTECTION
MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING Section 10.
"In addition to all of the other options outlined above, crewmembers shall have the right to volunteer by 8:00 a.m. EST on June 2,2009 to forfeit any number of hours contained within the crewmember's existing sick leave bank. Such forfeitures shall be made on June 8,2009."

I liked the voluntary aspect, but the volunteers need to accept that reality for what it is, voluntary. I volunteered and have no animosity towards non volunteers. Gave sick time too, but that was my attempt to make 2009 numbers. The reason 2009 numbers were high IMO, was that the IPA had to fund the benefits paid to those on MOU leave upfront. Remeber, UPS was going to make savings, so we voluntarily also needed to pick up our own benefits expenses.
