Well there was this one time where we had just got done with our run ups and starting taxiing to the hold bar. Well, as we headed towards the hold bar there was a twin star taxiing to the left of us. I stopped because I didn't feeling like playing chicken....the guy just cuts right in there and gets a clearance before us. Boy, my CFI was NOT happy because we already burned up some engine time fixing our left mag. Oh and just in case you were wondering, he (the twin star) was doing "stop and goes" so he didn't need to do run ups.
Anyways, as we turned our crosswind, tower called him in because he was at 900 and the pattern altitude is 1000. No answer. They called him in a second time. No answer. Third call? No answer. On the fourth call they asked him if he could hear. Finally, he answers back and says "yeah, loud and clear."
Angrily, the tower controller replied "ok twin star NXXXXX this is your FOURTH CALL! Pattern altitude is 1000" Me and my CFI had a pretty good laugh about that.
Well after doing a few landings, we were on downwind once again and I noticed we missed the threshold by about 500 feet (the displaced is 1500). On his final, I think he was giving the golfers a little bit of an airshow.
