Simply put, this was a software issue for UAL management to solve. Express pilots thought they could hold a gun to the pilots of United. They set a date after which United pilots could not ride the RJ jumpseat unless the United Pilots intervened to solve the problems of the RJ pilots with UAL management. We have enough problems with UAL to fight their battles as well.
They decided to threaten the use of the jumpseat as a means/weapon to get what they wanted. Which was amateurish and wrong.
I can't make it much simpler than that. I frankly don't care what got their panties in a wad over the jumpseat. My problem is they were going to use the seat as a weapon thinking that collectively, their tails could wag the dog. If I could type braille for you I would, but by the amount of postings I see you have on this forumn, I don't think it would work.
Calling names? Dude, life's too short. I was stating that as long as people are respectful and are not shi$'s when they come in the cockpit, all are welcome. Even when an Express pilot shows up with a "Guppy Killer" sticker, I would not use the seat as a weapon as long as they were respectful on my plane. That won't preclude me from saying something to him/her when we were in the air, but they can ride the jumpseat.
