Passing the MOU? Was it voted on? What are you talking about?
I'm responding to an attitude that I'm seeing in SOME of the bottom 300 that somehow this possible furlough is somehow the fault of those above them. That it is somehow our fault that if if we don't bend over backwards to keep them around we are greedy and only care about ourselves.
Ok we didn't "pass" the MOU. Poor words on my part. But we collectively as a group did something that has been touted as having never been done before to keep the bottom 300 around. What I see happening is that some of these guys are more ****ed at this pilot group than they are at UPS. We as a group didn't have to do anything, but the IPA has a history of taking care of our own and this MOU is a good example of that. I'm tired of getting accused as a senior guy that it is somehow our fault that these guys might get let go. That I'm somehow a greedy or uncompassionate SOB that this guy is "freezing with 9 other guys" in ANC whereas before he was living the good life amongst the palm trees somewhere at a former job. He and he alone made the decision to leave his prior job and come to UPS. None of his fate is the fault of me, this pilot group, or the IPA. Or maybe it is thru the MOU? It's UPS that's threatening the furlough so direct the anger where it belongs.
It's been pointed out by a few others that when seeing the attitude of guys like Frontseat, the fact that we put in place the MOU doesn't seem very appreciated and that maybe in round two they won't be so generous. I'm pretty sure that guys like Frontseat are in the minority and knowing this is what keeps the MOU alive for the others who do appreciate it.
Also don't give me some crap that I'm implying that somehow I'm better than Frontseat or the 300 because I'm senior than him/them. What does that have to do with anything regarding their possible furlough? The position I and other "senior scumbags" are in is one of being able to help him and others thru the MOU, but don't make me regret having helped by trying to make me feel guilty that I'm staying and they might be going. The fact that he's freezing in ANC is not my fault or anybody else's but that of UPS. He needs to put the blame for his situation where it belongs- at UPS!
