On the subject of capacity, don't forget that shifting CAL to STAR comes with a whole bunch of "free" capacity for UAL. Hence the ability to shift equipment around, and possibly hurt Skyteam, or seek other routes.
I wish I could say that this means a lot of corresponding CAL backfilling to be done by the rest of us in Skyteam, but I think we long ago stopped sending many passengers and revenue their way. It's already covered by AF/KLM...
