I've been trying the GS option instead of the YS. I figure, why give them the ability to use me for free. If I' getting less than 12 hours notice and I'm not on SC, then lets have some pay above the guarantee! I'm still stuck in the crashpad but...
When we're overstaffed the way we are, the chances of getting a GS are extremely low (#16 on the priority list to get called) where YS's have a much higher chance of getting called (#3 on the priority list). If we have plenty of pilots to cover the flying, I YS so at least I get to fly instead of getting passed up for the flying. During the Summer when we're way short on pilots, I'll be GS'ing the heck out of everything!
