I agree, we're MEM based, most of us anyway. It's a fleet-in deal for Christmas, just like most years It's not the company's job to make sure you're home for Christmas. Don't bid to fly that week if you don't want to wind up in base on Christmas Eve. If you're not senior enough to get it off, then too bad for you. Quit crying about it, it's just another day. Celebrate it early before you leave, or delay it until you get home. I could hold a line that gives me Christmas and New Years off, but I'll probably bid to fly over Christmas for sure, and maybe New Years as well (if I can find a line that has me off New Year's Eve night in a fun place to celebrate.) I'm already working Thanksgiving. Being on the road for all 3 doesn't bother me in the least.

For the record, I don't live 10 minutes from the AOC, although I do have friends that I crash with in MEM if I get stuck there. I commute, too, I just accept that I made the choice not to live in base, the company didn't make it for me. Therefore, any negative consequences of living out of base are ones that I imposed on MYSELF. I accept responsibility for that, too bad some of the crybabies on here can't.
